Antonios PLATIAS is a Brigadier General (ret). He served at the Ministry of Defence as National Defence Policy Director, as well as Head of Bilateral Defence Cooperation Section and NATO -EU Affairs Office of the International Relations Directorate.

 

He is a graduate of the “NATO Defence College” (Rome, ITALY), the “Supreme Joint War College” (Thessaloniki, GREECE), and a distinguished graduate of the US Army Field Artillery School (FT Sill, OK). He attended courses in the “Institut des hautes études de défense nationale” (Paris, FRANCE) and the “NATO School” (Oberammergau, GERMANY), along with several training courses of the Hellenic Armed Forces.  He also holds an MBA from the University of Macedonia.

Having served in several staff and commanding positions in the Hellenic Army, he was also assigned abroad to SEEBRIG (Istanbul, TURKEY), to the HQ of EUFOR Operation “ALTHEA” (Sarajevo, BiH) and to Cyprus. He participated as head or member of national delegations in numerous high-level official meetings, both in-country and abroad.

His main areas of interest are regional security and policy, geopolitics of energy transition and the defence and security dimension of foreign affairs.
