Charalambos (Babis) Papaioannou is an international expert on youth policy making. He is one of the pioneers in the field of youth work in Greece, with postgraduate studies in “European Youth Policies” from the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia.

He was the Coordinator of “Thessaloniki European Youth Capital 2014” (www.thessaloniki2014.gr), Director of Strategy for the candidacy of Tripoli, Arcadia, for the title of European Capital of Culture for the year 2021 (www.tripolisarcadia2021.gr) and Director of the EU Program “Youth Campaign on Tolerance”. In the period 2000-2002 he was the first elected member of the Presidency of the European Youth Forum from Greece (www.youthforum.org).

He specializes in civil society issues with an emphasis on the active participation of young people and the development of youth policies at the local level. He deals with European issues, the digital agenda, and networking. He is particularly active in Southeast Europe. He coordinates and participates in networks of civil society organizations in Europe and Greece.
